Laundry Attendant

Position: Laundry Attendant
Department: Housekeeping / Laundry
Location: ADh. Dhigurah, Maldives

We are looking for an experienced, responsible and hardworking Laundry Attendant to join our team.

The candidate must have previous experience working in a commercial laundry operation, such as in a hotel, resort, guesthouse, hospital, commercial laundry facility or similar environment. The candidate should be familiar with handling large volumes of linen and operating commercial laundry equipment safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

* Operate commercial washing machines, dryers and ironing equipment correctly and safely.
* Sort laundry according to fabric type, colour, level of soiling and required wash program.
* Select the correct washing program, temperature, water level and cycle according to the type of linen being washed.
* Measure and use laundry chemicals correctly, including detergent, bleach/destainer and fabric softener where required.
* Identify heavily soiled or stained linen and follow the correct treatment process.
* Wash and process hotel linen including bedsheets, pillowcases, duvet covers, towels, bathmats and other linen.
* Load washing machines and dryers according to the recommended machine capacity and avoid overloading.
* Ensure washed linen is properly cleaned, rinsed, dried and free from stains, odour or chemical residue.
* Operate ironing and flatwork ironing equipment where required.
* Fold and prepare clean linen neatly according to company standards.
* Separate damaged, torn or permanently stained linen and report it to the supervisor.
* Maintain proper separation between dirty and clean laundry at all times.
* Keep the laundry area, machines, chemical storage areas and workstations clean and organised.
* Clean lint filters and perform basic daily cleaning and maintenance of laundry equipment.
* Immediately report any machine faults, unusual noises, leaks or other technical problems.
* Follow chemical handling instructions and all health and safety procedures.
* Monitor the use of laundry chemicals and inform the supervisor when stock is running low.
* Handle guest laundry carefully and ensure items are properly identified and returned correctly.
* Maintain productivity while ensuring the quality of washed linen is not compromised.
* Assist with linen inventory and stock counts when required.
* Work closely with the Housekeeping team to ensure sufficient clean linen is available for daily operations.
* Be willing to assist in other Housekeeping duties when necessary.

Requirements

* Previous experience working in a commercial laundry is required.
* Experience in a hotel, resort, guesthouse or professional laundry facility is preferred.
* Experience operating commercial washing machines and dryers.
* Good understanding of sorting linen, wash cycles, temperatures and laundry chemicals.
* Able to identify different levels of soiling and stains.
* Basic understanding of safe chemical handling.
* Physically fit and comfortable with lifting, standing and working in a warm laundry environment.
* Able to work efficiently with large quantities of laundry.
* Responsible and careful when handling company and guest property.
* Able to follow instructions and maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards.
* Good teamwork and communication skills.
* Willing to learn and follow the laundry procedures and wash programs used by the company.
* Flexible and willing to work according to the operational roster, including weekends and public holidays.
* Comfortable working and living on an island.
