LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST

Job Overview:
- Society for Health Education (SHE) is looking for a suitable candidate for the position of Laboratory Technologist. The role involves providing support for the diagnosis of Thalassemia and related haemoglobinopathies, as well as carrying out routine analytical and administrative works of the laboratory. Work location is Not stated, and salary range is MRF 11,470.00 – 13,800.00.

Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out routine laboratory work for thalassemia screening including phlebotomy, complete haemogram, blood picture analysis and electrophoresis.
- Participation in field trips as required.
- Participation in awareness raising programs as required.
- Provide Genetic counselling to identified carriers and couples at risk.
- Data entry for Thalassemia and updating of laboratory statistics.
- Ensure that all laboratory supplies and equipment, including emergency stock, are utilized appropriately and stored appropriately.
- Coordinating in house training.
- Routine maintenance of laboratory equipment and preparation of reagents in lab.

Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field (including hematology).
- Must have a Phlebotomy Certificate.
- Experience in a relevant field will be considered.
- Must be registered at Maldives Allied Health Council and licensed to work as a Laboratory Technologist.
- Must be a Maldivian.
- Basic knowledge of MS Office.
- Strong time management skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Possess fine analytical judgement, excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Good eye-hand coordination.
- Attention to detail for obtaining accurate results on tests and good organizational skills.
- Focused and target oriented.
- Able to work as part of a team.
- Able to travel on occasions when required.
